  The best person for the job

  Employees can make a business succeed or fail, so the people who choose them have a vital role to play.

  Employees are a company's new ideas, its public face and its main asset. Hiring the right people is therefore a significant factor in a company's success.(0) G If the human resources department makes mistakes with hiring, keeping and dismissing staff, a business can disappear overnight. Many companies now realise that recruiting the best recruiters is the key to success.

  Sarah Choi, Head of HR at Enco pic, believes that thinking commercially is a key quality in HR. Every decision an HR manager makes needs to be relevant to advancing the business.   Not all operational managers agree. An informal survey of attitudes to HR departments that was carried out last year by a leading business journal received comments such as "What do they actually contribute?"(11).....A..... As Choi points out, salaries have never been higher and, in addition, HR managers often receive substantial annual bonuses.

  這篇文章的標(biāo)題有些misleading,“The best people for the job”,還以為是招人的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。其實(shí)這篇文章是關(guān)于Human resource的,所以還是要適當(dāng)關(guān)注文章前的說(shuō)明:the article below about the changing role of human resources departments.第八題,空格后面的“That's no longer the case”是很重要的提示。由于空格前面一直在強(qiáng)調(diào)commercial和business,所以在空缺的地方應(yīng)該是和另一個(gè)方面相關(guān)的內(nèi)容。選項(xiàng)C的administrative role正好滿足這個(gè)要求。前后文意思搭配在一起完全吻合。第九題,后面的for example的很關(guān)鍵,是對(duì)前面的補(bǔ)充說(shuō)明?!癋or example,a chief executive will expect the HR department to advise on everything from the headcount to whether to proceed with an acquisition.”總裁希望人力資源經(jīng)理對(duì)一切事情提出建議,從人數(shù)統(tǒng)計(jì)到是否進(jìn)行收購(gòu)。這種要求就需要人力資源經(jīng)理具備很多才能。所以F的句子填在這里最合適。第十題,答案稍微不那么明顯,不過(guò)D句中的an influential role可以和第十題的空格后的a crucial part相對(duì)應(yīng),算是答案信號(hào)。要從整體上把握第三段,這里認(rèn)為HR manager 的影響是全局的、長(zhǎng)期的,所以D句的“see the whole operation”符合情況。第十一題,理解前后文的意思,前面說(shuō)過(guò)去的operational managers不那么認(rèn)可HR manager的作用,后面指出HR managers掙得多,所以中間是轉(zhuǎn)折的意思。A句的But是個(gè)信號(hào),“上漲的薪酬水平意味著這個(gè)職位逐漸增加的重要性得到了廣泛的認(rèn)可?!币馑己颓昂蠖嘉呛希允钦_答案。第十二題,空格前說(shuō)HR managers覺得自己的作用被低估了,所以leaving??崭窈笠粋€(gè)However,所以空格處應(yīng)該還是和leaving有關(guān)的,為什么離職。E句的意思是“被視作僅僅對(duì)別人的離開和生病的日子劃勾的人是沒法幫助建立忠誠(chéng)感的?!碧钊氪颂幷谩?/p>

  例句:The line managers are responsible for the main activities of the company such as manufacturing and sales.

  2.liquid assets 流動(dòng)資產(chǎn)

  例句:流動(dòng)資產(chǎn)指容易變現(xiàn)的公司資產(chǎn)。

  Liquid assets are wealth that can easily be changed into cash.

  3.listed company 上市公司

  例句:A listed company is a company whose shares are quoted on a stock exchange.

  第一部分搭配題:

  重在考查考生尋找語(yǔ)篇大意和具體信息的能力

  bec中級(jí)閱讀技巧:

  先快速閱讀七個(gè)句子,找出每句關(guān)鍵詞。七個(gè)句子一般要比四個(gè)文本要簡(jiǎn)單,更容易理解,所以建議先讀懂七個(gè)句子。

  仔細(xì)閱讀四個(gè)文本,看有無(wú)和七個(gè)句子中關(guān)鍵詞意思一直的詞。切記文本中出現(xiàn)的多是同義或近義的表達(dá),很少出現(xiàn)和前面七個(gè)句子中完全一樣的單詞。如果發(fā)現(xiàn)有一樣的表達(dá),請(qǐng)謹(jǐn)慎選擇,因?yàn)楹芸赡苁敲曰罂忌摹?/p>

  切記:長(zhǎng)得像得有可能是答案,長(zhǎng)得一樣的多數(shù)情況不是答案。

  例如,句子中utlise its current expertise 和文本中exploit existing skills相對(duì)應(yīng)。句子中Move into a more promising market 和文本中enter a different market相對(duì)應(yīng)。

  每個(gè)文本至少使用一次。

  第二部分句子填空題:

  重在考查考生語(yǔ)篇整體意義的理解能力,以及根據(jù)語(yǔ)篇邏輯關(guān)系有條理地對(duì)內(nèi)容進(jìn)行組織銜接的能力。

  bec中級(jí)閱讀技巧:

  瞻前顧后,把空前后的句子都看一遍,特別要注意上下文中的連接詞、指示詞和代詞。看在語(yǔ)義和邏輯上是否吻合。

  最后沒有填上的空,建議采用試錯(cuò)法,一個(gè)一個(gè)句子的試,憑自己的語(yǔ)感猜測(cè)答案。

  第三部分閱讀理解題:

  重在考查考生尋找語(yǔ)篇大意和具體信息的能力

  這是我們中國(guó)學(xué)生最擅長(zhǎng)的題,從中學(xué)到大學(xué)我們都練過(guò),相信你們都已掌握了秘訣,這里不在贅述。

  第四部分完形填空題:

  重在考查近義詞辯析,搭配,慣用法等。

  bec中級(jí)閱讀技巧:

  首句一般都不留空,所以一定要仔細(xì)看首句,首句對(duì)了解文章主題和大意有幫助。

  瞻前顧后,把空前后都看一遍,從詞義辯析,詞語(yǔ)搭配,上下文語(yǔ)境,習(xí)慣用法等方面入手,選擇答案。有時(shí)所需填空單詞還會(huì)在后面出現(xiàn)。

  復(fù)核全文,對(duì)答案進(jìn)行進(jìn)一步核查。

  第五部分改錯(cuò)題:

  主要考查考生語(yǔ)法能力,包括時(shí)態(tài)、語(yǔ)態(tài)、虛擬語(yǔ)氣,一致,非謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞用法,從句,限定詞,代詞,介詞等。

  bec中級(jí)閱讀技巧:

  考生只要把多余的單詞挑出來(lái)就行。多余的單詞經(jīng)常是虛詞,所以做題時(shí)把注意力集中在冠詞、介詞、連詞、代詞、副詞等上面。

  根據(jù)以往的經(jīng)驗(yàn),每到題大概有兩、三行是對(duì)的。所以不要認(rèn)為每行都有多余的單詞,實(shí)在找不出來(lái),就填CORRECT。

  其他注意事項(xiàng):

  要注意BEC閱讀時(shí)間的分配和合理的答題順序。BEC閱讀題目難度并非按照先易后難的順序分布的。所以個(gè)人推薦BEC中級(jí)閱讀做題順序可以按照先做第四部分接著是第五部分然后是第三部分再做第一部分最后是第二部分。
