“For your wonderful kindness,” the good fairy said to the girl,“I will give you any wish you would like.” The little girl thought for a moment and then

  replied,“I want to be happy.”

The fairy leaned toward her and whispered in her ear. Then the fairy disappeared.

As the little girl grew up,there was no one in the land as happy as she.Everyone asked her the secret of happiness. She would only smile and answer,“The secret of my happiness is that I listened to a good fairy when I was a little girl.”

2.(8分)Ereading and ebooks are slowly conquering the world.Compared to traditional paper books, ebooks in some schools and universities attract more interest because the information flow seems much easier to manage and comes in a greatly higher quantity.

Japan is known for the reformminded attitude towards the gadget(精巧裝置)world and for the fact that it is one of the first countries that encouraged in the educational system the emailing of homework.

The digital textbook looks like the logical step in the world of learning. It is natural but it is also completely untraditional.

The plan of the largest publishing companies to get in line with the trend is to save a large quantity of paper and make the kids become interested in learning using a cool gadget. Many USA universities and colleges have made students be used to the procedure of downloading the courses and of course the procedure involves interactive software and also the chance of using the computer.

The traditional education system is still unwilling when it comes to giving up books. The standard approach of information taught out of a book and Shakespeare read out of an old school novel makes studying English as traditional as it can be.

In a world where kids would rather see the movie than read a book, the digital age has brought along a completely different flavor to reading.Bringing that flavor in school will make teaching a greener and also a completely different matter.

(25)Why are ebooks so popular in the world?

A.It's cheap to buy. B.It's effective to use.

C.It's convenient to bring. D.It's the latest fashion.

(26)Which of the following words can best take the place of the word “reformminded” in the second paragraph?

  A.Oldfashioned. B.Aggressive. C.Rejecting. D.Progressive.

(27)In America, the students are encouraged to______.

A.apply the procedure of downloading the courses

B.communicate with their teachers using computers

C.research some interactive software for their studies

D.do their homework in computer instead of in paper

(28)What's the author's attitude to the digital textbooks?

  A.Being against. B.Being for. C.Not mentioned. D.Being neutral.

  3.(6分)

Dolphins are not fish, but warmblooded animals. They live in groups, and speak to each other in their own language. In this way they are like other animals, such as bees and birds. But dolphins are very different from almost all land animals.Their brain is nearly the same size as our own,and they live a long time—at least twenty or thirty years.

Like some other animals, dolphins use sound to help them find their way around. They also make these sounds to talk to each other and to help them find food.We now know they do not use their ears to receive these sounds, but the lower part of the mouth, called the jaw.

Strangely, dolphins seem to like man,and for thousands of years there have been stories about the dolphin and its friendship with people. There is a story about sailors in the 19th century. In a dangerous part of the sea off the coast of New Zealand, they learnt to look for a dolphin called Jack. From 1871 to 1903 Jack met every boat in the area and showed it the way. Then in 1903 a passenger on a boat called the Penguin shot and wounded(傷害)Jack. He recovered and for nine years more continued to guide all ships through the area—except for the Penguin.

Today, some people continue to kill dolphins, but many countries of the world now protect them and in these places it is against the law to kill them.

(29)Dolphins are different from many other animals in that they __ ____.

A.live in groups B.have large brains

C.are warmblooded D.have their own language

(30)Why did the sailors off the coast of New Zealand look for Jack?

A.He was lonely and liked to be with people.

  B.They enjoyed playing with him.

  C.He was seriously wounded.

  D.They wanted his help.

(31)By telling the story of Jack the writer wanted to show that ______.

  A.dolphins are friendly and clever

  B.people are cruel to animals

C.Jack is different from other dolphins

D.dolphins should be protected by law

4.(8分)Without proper planning, tourism can cause problems. For example, too many tourists can crowd public places that are also enjoyed by the inhabitants of the country. If tourists create too much traffic, the inhabitants become annoyed and unhappy. They begin to dislike tourists and to treat them impolitely. They forget how much tourism can help the country's economy. It is important to think about the people of a destination country and how tourism affects them.Tourism should help a country keep the customs and beauty that attract tourists.Tourism should also advance the wealth and happiness of local inhabitants.

Too much tourism can be a problem. If tourism grows too quickly, people must leave other jobs to work in the tourism industry. This means that other parts of the country's economy can suffer.

On the other hand, if there is not enough tourism, people can lose jobs.Businesses can also lose money. It costs a great deal of money to build large hotels, airports, firstclass roads, and other support facilities(配套設施)needed by tourist attractions. For example,a major international class tourism hotel can cost as much as 50 thousand dollars per room to build. If this room is not used most of the time, the owners of the hotel will lose money.

Building a hotel is just a beginning. There must be many other support facilities as well, including roads to get to the hotel, electricity, sewers(下水道)to handle waste, and water. All of these support facilities cost money. If they are not used because there are not e nough tourists, jobs and money are lost.

(32)Which of the following do you think has been discussed in the part before this selection?

A.It is extremely important to develop tourism.

B.Building roads and hotels is important.

  C.Support facilities are highly necessary.

D.Planning is of great importance to tourism.

  (33)The underlined word “inhabitants”(in Paragraph 1)probably means ______.

  A.citizens B.passengers C.population D.tourists

(34)Too much tourism can cause all these problems EXCEPT ______.

A.a bad effect on other industries B.a change of tourists' customs

C.overcrowdedness of places of interest D.pressure on traffic

(35)It can be inferred from the text that ______.

A.the author doesn't like tourism developing so fast

B.local people will benefit from tourist attraction

C.other parts of a country's economy won't benefit from tourism much

D.we can't build too many support facilities

  三、七選五答案:CFAED。

  四、完形填空

  答案:CCACBCBDDAADBCABDCBD組

解析:(41) 從下文 “my dad persuaded me to go into law” 可知,作者的父親從事的是法律工作,應該是一個lawyer(律師)。

  (48) in return “作為回報”;in case “以防萬一”;by turns “輪流,依次”;by chance “碰巧”。句意:如果你從別人身上尋找最好的東西,那么同樣你也會得到最好的東西。

  (49) follow the principle “遵循這一原則”。

  (50)understanding “諒解的,通情達理的”。從下文父親最終允許“我”棄學辦雜志看, 父親是通情達理、善解人意的。

  (51) take up time “占據(jù)時間”;make up “編造,組成”;pick up “撿起,接收(節(jié)目),接人”等;keep up “繼續(xù),維持”。

  (52) 從“stay in school or leave to work on my magazine”可知,校長讓我作出一個選擇(choice)。

  (57) pursue my dream “追尋我的夢想”。

  (58) as it turned out “結(jié)果是”,it 代替后面的那句話。

  (59)前文已提到I started a magazine。

  (60) 從本句的句式結(jié)構(gòu)看,使用了the same way,要選的詞與bring up 同義,故選raised(撫養(yǎng),養(yǎng)育)。

We should spend less time online so that we can have more time to read books. We'd better form the habit of keeping diaries every day to practice handwriting.Besides,it is better to write letters to our relatives and friends by hand rather than send emails. As the saying goes,“The style is the man.” Beautiful and neat handwriting is beneficial to us students. So please pay more attention to our handwriting in the future.

Imagine, one day, getting out of bed in Beijing and being at your office in Shanghai in only a couple of hours, and then, after a full day of work, going back home to Beijing and having dinner there.

Sounds unusual, doesn't it? But it's not that unrealistic, with the development of China’s high-speed railway system. China has an even greater high-speed railway plan to connect the country with Southeast Asia, and finally Eastern Europe.

China is planning to extend(延長) its own high-speed railway network to up to 17 countries in 10 to 15 years, eventually reaching London and Singapore.

If China’s plan for the high-speed railway goes forward, people could rush from London to Beijing within two days. The new system would still follow China’s high-speed railway standard. And the trains would be able to go 346 kilometers an hour, almost as fast as some airplanes.

China’s bullet train(高速列車), the one connecting Wuhan to Guangzhou, already has the World’s fastest average speed. It covers 1,069 kilometers in about three hours.

Of course, there are some technical challenges to overcome. There are so many issues that need to be settled, such as safet y and maintenance(保養(yǎng)) of railway tracks. So, it’s important to pay attention to every detail. But the key issue is really money. China is already spending hundreds of billions of yuan on longer railway construction.

China prefers that the other countries provide natural resources rather than financial investment. Resources from those countries could flood into China to support development.

It’ll be a win-win project. For other countries, the railway network will certainly create more opportunities for business, tourism and so on, not to mention the better communication among those countries.

For China, such a project would not only connect it with the rest of Asia and bring some much-needed resources, but would also help develop China’s far west. We predict that in the coming decades, millions of people will move to the western parts, where the land is empty and resources unused. With high-speed trains, people will set up factories and business centers in the west. And they’ll trade with Central Asian and Eastern European countries.

  28. According to the passage, the greatest challenge to the new high-speed railway plan is .

  A. financial problems B. safety of the system

  C. technical issues D. m aintenance of railway tracks

  29. What’s the author’s attitude towards China’s high-speed railway plan?

  A. Positive B. Negative C. Doubtful D. Critical

  30. China’s new high-speed railway plan will be a win-win project because .

  A. China and the countries involved will get much-needed resources

  B. China and the countries involved will benefit from the project in various ways

  C. Chin a will develop its railway system and communication with other countries

  D. the foreign countries involved will develop their railway transportation, business and tourism

  31. Which of the following might be the best title for the passage?

  A. International Railway Network[ B. High-speed Bullet Trains

  C. Big Railway Dreams D.源:New Railway Standards

  D

I heard many parents complaining that their teenage children are rebelling(叛逆). I suggested they recall their own teenage years. At that age they would like to be growing away from parents. They preferred to stand on their own two feet. But take a good look at the present rebellion. It seems that teenagers are taking the same way of showing that they disagree with their parents. Instead of going out fighting bravely on their own, most of them are clutching (緊握) at one another’s hands for reassurance.

They declare they want to dress as they like. But they all wear the same clothes. They set off in new directions in music. But somehow they all end up gathering around listening to the same record. Their reason for thinking or acting in a similar way is that the crowd is doing it. They have come out of their cocoon (蠶繭) into a larger cocoon.

It has become harder and harder for a teenager to stand up against the popularity wave and to go his or her own way. Industry has firmly carved out a teenage market. These days every teenager can learn from the advertisements what a teenager should have and be. And many of today’s parents have come to award high marks for the popularity of their children. All this create a great barrier for the teenager who wants to find his or her own path.

But the barrier is worth climbing over. The path is worth following. You may want to listen to classical music instead of going to a party. You may want to collect rocks when everyone else is collecting records. You may have some thoughts that you don’t care to share at once with your classmates. Well, go for it. Find yourself. Be yourself. Popularity will come — with the people who respect you for who you are. That is the only kind of popularity that really matters.

  32. This passage is aimed at _______.

  A. walking a new way on their own

  C. growing away from parents

  D. following others blindly

  34. The phrase “larger cocoon” at the end of the second pa ragraph refers to _ ______.

  A. the care and love from parents

  B. the popular trend in the society

  C. the present teenage market

  D. the fantastic music world

  35. According to the author, what might happen when a teenager follows his/her own path?

  A. He/She gets larger collection. B. He/She gains valuable popularity.

  C. He/She shares fresh thoughts with classmates. D. He/She loses good friends.

  書面表達 (滿分25分)

  One possible version:

It is known to us all that some students cheat in the examinations at school. It has three reasons. First of all, there are so many exams for the students. Besides, the exams given are difficult in some way. Secondly, some students have to cheat in the exams because they are too lazy to study. The last reason is to please their parents and teachers. For some students, bad marks give them great pressure and make them depressed.

In my opinion, cheating in exams is wrong. It is not allowed in the school rules. We should take active attitude to our studies, be honest and hard-working, and try to get a mark which is true as well as good. In a word, study is our duty.

  第一節(jié)(共15小題;每小題2分,滿分30分)

  閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個選項中,選出最佳選項。

  (A)

Some people seem to have extraordinary memories. Zheng Aiqiang, a “memory athlete” on TV show Super Brain, can remember 2,660 numbers in just one hour!

You would think people like this have special brains. But according to a recent study by researchers from the US and the Netherlands, the brain structures of ordinary people and 23 of the world’s leading memory athletes show no difference.

That’s because good memories can be trained. New research in the journal Neuron(神經(jīng)元期刊) suggests that you can become a super memorizer with just six weeks of hard training.

Researchers found that technique(技巧) called loci, invented by ancient Greeks, can greatly help improve memory. By using loci, you are using your imagination to improve the brain’s memory networks. You can link(關(guān)聯(lián)) something you need to remember with a place that you know very well. For example, to remember a list of numbers, imagine yourself walking through your house. Each thing is linked to a number. For example, zero could be handle(把手) on the door and five could be the painting on the wall.

In one study, some ordinary people were given 20 minutes to remember 72 words. First they could only remember 26 of them. But when they were taught loci, they could remember 62 words.

“Not everyone can become a memory champion. But everyone using the technique can improve a lot from the level they’re at,” said Boris Konrad, one of the researchers in the study.

  51. According to the study, ________.

  a. memory athletes have special brains

  b. ordinary people and memory athletes have similar brain structures

  c. hard training can make a person a super memorizer

  d. the ancient Greeks had the most powerful memory at that time

  A. ab B. cd C. bc D. ac

  52. When using loci to remember something, you link the thing with a _______.

  A. number B. place C. name D. painting

  53. Which of the following about the study is NOT true? ________.

  A. People were given 20 minutes to remember the 72 words.

  B. They could remember 26 words in their own way.

  C. They could remember all the words by using loci.

  D. Loci helped them remember 36 more words.

  (B)

Many people tend to complain about not having good friends in their lives. Sadly, they seem to think that their own company is not enough to make the m happy. Nothing could be further from the truth though. In order to get along with others, the first thing you need to do is learn to get along with yourself. Only in this way will you succeed in developing healthy, solid relationships with others.

Listen to your inner voice. Remember that inner voice that keeps whispering to you what you really want and need as well as what you do not really want and need. It is about time you started listening to it. In order to get to know yourself in depth, it is important to learn and accept what you want and what you do not want.

Learn to enjoy your own company. You will be surprised to find out how many things you can do by yourself and actually have fun in the process. Reading romantic novels, poetry or science fiction is only a few of the things that you can do by yourself, which not only can offer you hours of enjoyment, but also the chance to get to know yourself better.

Satisfy yourself. Pay special attention to your personal hygiene(衛(wèi)生). Do your hair and nails often and experiment with new styles. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly to stay in good shape. No matter how busy your daily schedule is, always find at least an hour per day for yourself, when you can either relax doing absolutely nothing, or doing something that you enjoy most.

Learn to respect your own boundaries. Find out what your boundaries are and learn to respect them. You are the only one who knows what you can accept and what you cannot.

  54. If you want to have a good relationship with others, you should first _____.

  A. get into the habit of living alone

  B. learn to be your own best friend

  C. always tell the truth[]

  D. make many friends in society

  55. What is the purpose of listening to your inner voice? _______

  A. To keep a good state of mind.

  B. To know more about yourself.

  C. To enjoy the time by yourself.

  D. To form a relationship with others.

  56. In order to please yourself, the writer gives some suggestions EXCEPT _______.

  A. eating healthily

  B. exercise regularly

  C. experimenting with new hair style

  D. keeping on cleaning the house

  57. What is the structure of the passage?

  (C)

China is known as a state of manners and ceremony. Many proverbs have been passed down from generation to generation such as “polite behavior costs nothing” or “showing respect each other” and so on. For instance, there is an interesting short story. Once upon a time, a man went on a long tour to visit his friend with a swan as a gift. But it escaped from the cage on the way. Though he tried hard, he got hold of nothing but a feather. Instead of returning home, he continued his journey with the swan feather. When his friend received this unexpected gift, he was deeply moved. And the saying “The gift is nothing much, but it’s the thought that counts.” was spread far and wide.

Chinese used to cup one hand in the other before the chest as a greeting. This tradition has a history of more than 2, 000 years and nowadays it is seldom used except in the Spring Festival. And shaking hands is more popular. Bowing, as to show respect to the higher level, is often used by the lower like subordinates(下級), students, and attendants. But at present Chinese youngsters prefer to simply nod as a greeting.

When you start a talk with a stranger, the topics such as weather, food, or hobbies may be good choices to break the ice. For a man, a chat about sports, stock market or his job can usually go on smoothly. Similar to Western customs, you should be careful to ask a woman private questions. However, relaxing talks about her job or family life will never put you into danger. Though Chinese are said to be implicit(含蓄的), they are actually humorous enough to be pleased about the jokes of Americans.

  58. What’s the purpose of telling a story about sending a swan feather?

  A. To make you pleased.

  B. To tell us that many proverbs have been passed down in China.

  C. To introduce the next paragraph.

  D. To give us an example about Chinese interesting story.

  59. What does the underlined word “counts” mean in the first paragraph? _______ .

  A. Figures out. B. Comes to. C. Means a lot. D. Calculates.

  60. In Paragraph 2, the author mainly wants to introduce _______.

  A. the Chinese body language

  B. the way the lower show respect to the higher

  C. the traditional Chinese manners

  D. the development of Chinese manners

  61. The passage is mainly about ________.

  A. Chinese proverbs B. Chinese humor

  C. Chinese manners D. Chinese body languages

  (D)

There is a common belief among parents that schools are no longer interested in spelling. No school I have taught in has ever considered spelling unimportant as a basic skill. There are, however, quite different ideas about how to teach it, or how much priority(優(yōu)先) it must be given over general language development and writing ability. The problem is, how to en¬courage a child to express himself freely in writing without holding him back with spelling.

If spelling becomes the only point of his teacher’s interest, clearly a bright child will be likely to “play safe”. He will write only words within his spelling range(范圍). That’s why teachers often encourage the early use of dictionaries and pay attention to content rather than technical ability.

I was once shocked to read on the bottom of a sensitive piece of writing about a personal experience: “This work is terrible! There are far too many spelling mistakes.” It may have been a sharp criticism(批評) of the pupils technical abilities in writing, but it was also a sad thing for the teacher who had omitted to read the composition, which contained some beautiful expre ssions of the child’s deep feelings. The teacher was not wrong to draw atten¬tion to the mistakes, but if his priority had centered on the child’s ideas, an expression of his disappointment with the presentation would have given the pupil more hope to seek improve¬ment.

  62. The expression “play safe” probably means _______.

  A. to write carefully B. to do as teachers say

  C. to use dictionaries frequently D. to avoid using words one is not sure of

  63. Teachers encourage the use of dictionaries so that ________.

  A. students will be able to express their ideas more freely]

  B. teachers will have less trouble in correcting mistakes

  C. students will have more trust in writing

  D. students will learn to spell words correctly

  64. The writer seems to think that the teacher’s judgment on that sensitive piece of writing is _______.

  A. reasonable B. unfair C. foolish D. careless

  65. The major point discussed in the passage is _______.

  A. the importance of developing writing skills

  B. the importance of spelling

  C. the correct way of marking composition

  D. the relationship between spelling and the content of a composition

  第二節(jié):(共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)

  根據(jù)對話內(nèi)容,從對話后的選項中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項。選項中有兩項為多余選項。

When we are little, we know nothing about the rights and responsibilities of adulthood. 66 Thus, if we like a certain toy or if we want to eat a certain type of chocolate, we think that our parents will have to buy that for us. We don’t care that they possibly have not enough money for that. If they don’t carry out our wish, we’ll begin to cry. 67 Whenever we begin to cry, we’ll get what we want.

Still, little by little, we realize that our parents can’t offer us all that we want for certain reasons. We then also understand that parents have their rights. They have the right to scold us when we do something wrong or when they find out that we have lied to them. 68 They choose our clothes, the food we eat, the school we will study at, the hours when we should go out to play and the time we have to return home.

69 They are the ones to blame later if we don’t receive proper education. That’s why when we beat a classmate at the kindergarten, parents are the ones to apologize for our deeds in front of the teacher and the classmate’s parents. And when we get ill, they are responsible for not taking good care of us and for dressing us inadequately.

The moment we become teenagers, we notice that we should be responsible for the society. Now we have the right to be independent. 70 It is supposed that we are mature enough to solve our problems and to make people around trust us. For some of us, this is a difficult test to pass, but it is the best method to see if we are capable of taking our place in society.

  A. We think our parents should offer us all we need.

  B. We should believe we can do them by ourselves.

  C. This is a chi ld’s important weapon to threaten his/her parents.

  D. Moreover, they have the right to make choices for us when we are little.

  E. As a matter of fact, parents have a lot of things to be concerned about.

  F. But at the same time they are responsible for many things that happen to us.

  G. However, it’s also time for us to give explanations when we do something

  wrong.
