Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
根據(jù)心理學家亞伯拉罕.馬斯洛的“需求層次”理論，人們的行為被驅(qū)動是滿足基本需求然后向其他、更重要的需求移動。在這個層次所呈現(xiàn)的金字塔里，最低的等級包括基本的生理需求，如對食物和住處的需求;高一點的是對安全和保障的需求。當人們繼續(xù)向金字塔上方移動時，需求變得越來越心理化和社會化。很快，對愛情、友情和親密關系的需求變得重要起來，然后是對自尊和成就感的需求。處于最高位置的需求是自我實現(xiàn)，這是作為一個人的成長和發(fā)展過程，目的是實現(xiàn)個人潛能(完成我們有能力完成的所有成就)。
According to the psychologist Abraham Maslow’s theory of "Hierarchy of Needs", people’s actions are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to other, more advanced needs. In the pyramid in which form the hierarchy is displayed, the lowest level comprises of basic physical requirements such as the need for food and shelter; higher up is the need for safety and security. As people progress up the pyramid, needs become increasingly psychological and social. Soon, the need for love, friendship and intimacy becomes important, followed by the need for personal esteem and feelings of accomplishment. The need which tops the list is self-actualization, which is a process of growing and developing as a person in order to achieve individual potential (to be all that wecan be).

Since the start of industrial revolution, humans have burned through enough fossil fuels - coal, oil, and natural gas - to add some 365 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere. Deforestation has contributed to another 180 billion tonnes. Each year, we throw up another nine billion tonnes or so, an amount that has been increasing by as much as 6% annually. If current trends continue, such an increase in carbon dioxide concentrations will produce an eventful average global temperature rise of between 2 and 4 Degree Celsius, which will trigger a variety of world-altering events, including the disappearance of glaciers, the inundation of low-lying islands and coastal cities, and the melting of Arctic ice cap.
