I was telling my boy Sonny the story of the hare (兔子) and the tortoise (烏龜). At the end I said, “ Son, remember: Be slow and steady (鎮(zhèn)定的), and that will win the race. Don’t you think there’s something to learn from the tortoise?”
Sonny opened his eyes wide, “Do you mean next time when I’m entering for the 60-metre race I should wish that Billy, Tony and Sandy would all fall asleep halfway?”
I was shocked, “But the tortoise didn’t wish that the hare would fall asleep!”
“He must have wished that,” Sonny said, “Otherwise how could he be so foolish as to race with the hare? He knew very well the hare ran a hundred times faster than he himself did.”
“He didn’t have such a wish,” I insisted. “He won the race by perseverance (堅(jiān)忍不拔), by pushing on steadily.”
Sonny thought a while. “That’s a lie,” he said. “He won it because he was lucky. If the hare hadn’t happened to fall asleep, the tortoise would never have won the race. He could be as steady as you like, or a hundred times steadier, but he’d never have won the race. That’s for sure.”
I gave up. Today’s children are not like what we used to be. They’re just hopeless.

SAN FRANCISCO—A phone app(應(yīng)用程序)in San Francisco gives information about open parking spots.City officials in San Francisco introduced the app to try to reduce traffic jams in the city, but some say it raises safety concerns.
In this city, drivers searching for parking spots lead to 30 percent of all downtown jams, city officials think. Now San Francisco has found a solution — a phone app for spot-seekers that shows information about areas with available spaces. The system, introduced last month, relies on wireless sensors(感應(yīng)器)fixed in streets and city garages that can tell within seconds if a spot has opened up.
But the system could come with serious consequences. Some people say that drivers searching for parking could end up focusing on their phones, not the road.“It could be really distracting(使分心的),” said Daniel Simons, a professor of psychology at the University of Illinois.
City officials admitted the hidden problem. They are urging drivers to pull over before they use the city’s iPhone app, or to do so before they leave home. Nathaniel Ford, executive director of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, said safety could actually improve if drivers quickly found a spot instead of circling and getting frustrated.
San Francisco has put sensors into 7,000 parking spots and 12,250 spots in city garages. If spaces in an area open up, the sensors communicate wirelessly with computers that in turn make the information available to app users within a minute, said Mr. Ford, of the transportation agency. On the app, a map shows which blocks have lots of places(blue)and which are full(red).
More than 12,000 people have downloaded San Francisco’s app, which is available now only for the iPhone.
48. What is the phone app mentioned in the text mainly aimed at?
A. Benefiting iPhone users.
B. Preventing traffic accidents.
C. Making the traffic flow smoothly.
D.Making full use of the parking spots.
49. According to the text, San Francisco city officials ________.
A. don’t consider the app distracting.
B. are aware of the app’s disadvantages.
C. advise drivers to park cars slowly.
D. believe more parking spots are needed.
50. The phone app mentioned in the text ________.
A. is a bit slow in reacting
B. hasn’t been put into service
C. was introduced several years ago
D. can’t be downloaded to all phones
51. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. A phone app has been introduced to relieve the pressure on traffic in the city.
B. Safety concerns are voiced about a phone app aimed at helping drivers find parking spots.
C. Looking for parking spots contributes greatly to downtown traffic jams.
D. Drivers’ attention is distracted in one way or another when they are driving.

Parents and kids today dress alike, listen to the same music, and are friends. Is this a good thing? Sometimes, when Mr. Ballmer and his 16-year-old daughter, Elizabeth, listen to rock music together and talk about interests they both enjoy, such as pop culture, he remembers his more distant relationship with his parents when he was a teenager.
“I would never have said to my mom, ‘Hey, the new Weezer album is really great. How do you like it?’” says Ballmer. “There was just a complete gap in taste.”
Music was not the only gulf. From clothing and hairstyles to activities and expectations, earlier generations of parents and children often appeared to move in separate orbits(軌道).
Today, the generation gap has not disappeared, but it is getting narrow in many families. And parent—child activities, from shopping to sports, involve a feeling of trust and friendship that can continue into adulthood.
But family experts warn that the new equality can also result in less respect for parents. “There’s still a lot of strictness and authority(權(quán)威) on the part of parents out there, but there is a change happening,” says Kerrie, a psychology professor at Lebanon Valley College. “In the middle of that change, there is a lot of confusion among parents.”
Family researchers offer a variety of reasons for these changing roles and attitudes. They see the 1960s as a turning point. Great cultural changes led to more open communication and a more democratic(民主的) process that encourages everyone to have a say.
“My parents were on the ‘before’ side of that change, but today’s parents, the 40-year-olds, were on the ‘after’ side,” explains Mr. Ballmer. “It’s not something easily achieved by parents these days, because life is more difficult to understand or deal with, but sharing interests does make it more fun to be a parent now.”
52. The underlined word “gulf” in Para.3 most probably means _________.
A. distance B. interest C. similarity D. cooperation
53. The change in today’s parent-child relationship is _________.
A. more confusion among children.
B. less respect for parents from children.
C. new equality between parents and children.
D. more strictness and authority on the part of parents.
54. By saying “today’s parents, the 40-year-olds, were on the ‘after’ side.” the author means that today’s parents _________.
A. can set a limit to the change.
B. follow the trend of the change.
C. fail to take the change seriously.
D. have little difficulty adjusting(適應(yīng))to the change.
55. The purpose of the passage is to _________.
A. describe the difficulties today’s parents have met with.
B. discuss the development of the parent—child relationship.
C. suggest the ways to handle the parent—child relationship.
D. compare today’s parent—child relationship with that in the past.

A new report says plastics are responsible for $13 billion in damage to the oceans and the undersea environment. The findings were announced recently at a United Nations conference. 56 .
Plastic thrown away carelessly makes its way into rivers and other waterways. 57 . After a while, it collects in the sea. And plastic never goes away. Plastic is not biodegradable—destroyed by bacteria or natural processes. Instead, it just breaks up into smaller pieces over time. The oceans contain a lot of chemicals and other pollutants(污染物). 58 .That means harmful material may get into our food supply.
59 . Human beings cause pollution and they can take steps to stop it. They can use fewer single use product containers and throw plastics away correctly. Plastic recycling programs also works—where old bottles and other plastics are collected, broken down and used to make new products. We could reuse bottles in our households many times if we wish to, rather than end it after the first use. We could, when we get rid of that plastic, recycle it and reuse it, which replaces the need for raw materials.
The report also calls on companies to improve methods for using plastics. 60 . And it calls for information about the way plastic is thrown out or removed from use. By putting a new value on plastic, industry has a special reason to clean up the environment.
But all of the companies must join to deal with the problem.
A. Then, fish may eat the plastics.
B. But people can make a big difference.
C. Plastics should be gathered together and reused.
D. It is convenient to use plastic bags in everyday life.
E. It asks for them to better measure and control plastic use.
F. The plastic eventually reaches coastal areas and ocean waters.
G. The report tells about harm to sea life and what might be done to improve the situation.

寫(xiě)作:
Dear editor,
With the fast development of e-commerce, online shopping is increasingly becoming an unavoidable part of the young’s life.
The popularity of online shopping definitely has its own reasons. First and foremost, online shopping usually means something you buy both cheap in price and better in quality. Besides, goods you get online come to you fast as well as conveniently, saving your tiredness of shopping and walking. But the other side of the coin is also true. Goods bought online are not as fine as those from the store which you can watch, feel and smell by yourself. Some online shoppers become impatient or even unreasonable after you have paid for the goods.
In my opinion, we should improve our e-commerce laws to regulate the activities of online purchase. Meanwhile, as the online customers, we should be cautious while shopping online.
Best wishes
Yours,
Li Hua

Tour Guide to Ostia
Visiting Ostia, a beautiful town in Italy, is a relaxing trip that takes you away from the noise of Rome. Reserve a whole day for your visit—not just to relax, but also because Ostia deserves it. The site is quite big, so don't spend too much time visiting the first buildings you see.
What to wear
Dress "onion(洋蔥)-skin" style, with outer wears that can be removed. Ostia is fairly close to the sea, but it can also be quite hot in the ruins even on a cloudy day. Fine hot weather is generally guaranteed from mid-May to late September. Extra-comfortable shoes! And a sun hat!
How to get there
The best way to reach Ostia is by train. Trains leave at station Piramide. A normal train ticket will be enough for the entire journey. Get out at the stop Ostia. Next cross a busy road, keep walking straight ahead, and after 100 metres turn left to get to the entrance. If you arrive by car, you can use a parking lot in front of the entrance.
Entrance fee
Various discounts are given to European Union citizens. In order to get a discount you must show your passport. Full price ticket: 6.50 euro. Half price ticket: EU citizens between the ages of 18 and 25, and EU teachers. Free ticket: EU citizens below the age of 18. Tickets can be used for the entire day, so you can leave the site and return if you wish. Don't forget to tell the guards at the entrance that you will be returning!
Opening hours
Open daily except Monday 8:30 to 19:30.
The Ticket Office closes at 18:00.
The site is closed on Mondays, December 25 and May 1.

My friend, Peg, and I were seeking evidence that there were people who were treating our soil, our waters, our air with the love and respect they deserved. And we found it.
One day we saw a busload of school children on an outing. The bus had stopped at a hamburger stand where we were having a rest, and half-a-hundred children poured out. Busloads of children, of course, were not new, and I hardly gave them more than a glance until I realized what they were doing. Chatting and laughing, the children were picking up as much waste as they could carry from around the stand and its parking area. They took the waste to their bus, where several bags had been brought out for the waste.
Within five minutes, before our astonished eyes, that parking lot had been picked clean. Impressed, I walked over to their teacher. "I'm interested," I began. "In fact, I'm surprised at how those kids worked this place over. Is this some kind of environment protection class?"
"You'd never guess it," he said, "but we're a history class. "
"A history class?"
"That's right. We're on our way from Boston to visit Fort(城堡) Ticonderoga. Before the trip, one of the things we tried to find out was how the Ticonderoga countryside looked back in old days," he said. "In fact, we made a little table display of the scene, using toy buildings and toy trees. When one kid jokingly suggested we ought to put a few bottles and cans around to make it look real, the others blamed him. But the boy argued that he bet Ticonderoga would look like that today. Besides, if they thought it was so funny, were they prepared to clean it up if he was right? The class decided, however, that the entire fort might be too big a task to do. But they agreed to clean up any roadside area where they stopped on their way to the fort. And so that's what they did!"
41. How did the author feel when he understood what the kids were doing?
A. Amazed. B. Bored.
C. Disappointed. D. Unconcerned.
42. Why were the students going to Fort Ticonderoga?
A. To learn history.
B. To go outing for fun.
C. To clean the roads to the fort.
D. To protect the environment there.
43. The underlined word "display" in the last paragraph refers to__________.
A. plan B. show C. cloth D. game
C
An astronaut is required to make some repairs to the outside of the International Space Station. After a successful repair, the astronaut finishes the task. Unfortunately, a tool flies off into space. The tool has now become space junk, high-speed pieces of objects(物體) going around the Earth at 17,000 kilometers per hour.
While humans produce an unbelievable amount of waste on Earth, we might not think too much about space junk. But NASA says there are probable millions of objects, both small and large, going around the Earth in a giant cloud of junk.
Space junk got its start in the middle of the twentieth century, at the very beginning of the space race, when satellite began to be launched to go into orbit (軌道) around the Earth. So far, space junks include waste spaceships and waste spaceship parts, rocket fuel containers and even pieces of paint. Believe or not, there are millions of tiny pieces of paint floating around Earth's orbit. Heat or crashes usually cut off paint from spaceship and turn them into space junk. Because there are so many objects flying around up there, there's concern that crashes between space junks will only produce more of them. Scientists are worried this is already happening.
Anything travelling at a high speed in space would cause a considerable amount of damage to a spaceship if a direct hit happened. Even a small piece of paint is capable of making a quarter-inch hole into the window of a space station. The good news for astronauts is that most space junk is located between 550 and 625 miles above the Earth——the International Space Station flies in orbit at 250 miles high, while spaceships usually only reach 375 miles above the Earth. Space programs are also working on rocket designs that limit the amount of space junk produced during a launch.
For those of us on the Earth, is there a possibility that space junk could fall back to the ground? Everything in orbit will finally be pulled back down by Earth's gravity—when that happens depends on how high the object is and how fast it's going. The higher the object is, the longer the object will take to fall. These objects could stay in orbit for thousands of years. As for the risks of getting hit on the head, fortunately, most objects burn up on their way back to the Earth, and no one has ever been killed by space junk.
44. Where is space junk from?
A. Pieces from satellites.
B. Fuel coming from rockets.
C. Waste from the space station.
D. Spaceships that no longer work.
45. What are scientists worried about space junk?
A. It may rub off the spaceship's outside paint.
B. It may be pulled back by gravity and hurt people.
C. More space junks will probably be produced in crashes.
D. The space station's windows may be blocked by space junk.
46. Where is the passage probably taken from?
A. Astronauts' travel diary.
B. Scientists' research report.
C. Popular science magazine.
D. Adventure novel.
Taking photos while on holiday is not an uncommon activity. Tourists do it all the time, but if you want to take things further, here are some tips that can help you along the way.
First of all, there is the matter of equipment. Of course, most people believe that the higher end your camera is, the better the photos will turn out. 47 The quality of DSLR cameras(數(shù)碼單反相機(jī)) is superior to the one of small cameras and smartphones, but only if you know how to adjust(調(diào)整) their settings. However, if you don't know how to do it, an iPhone camera is enough too. 48 You can shoot amazing photos without having to travel with a large and heavy camera.
Secondly, you need to do some research in advance and discover the best photo spots. Your photos don't have to look like travel cards. On the contrary, you can catch the beauty of a place by finding its uncommon corners and subjects. For example, if you're going to a crowded city, don't just take photos of high buildings. 49 You may see a new face of the city at that time.
Thirdly, you have to be patient. 50 For the best picture, come back to the same spot several times or stay at one spot for some time. You might come across something special as you wait: a bird flying across an old temple, a mother and her baby passing by, or just the sun giving beautiful colors on the roofs.
51 Take as many photos as you can and don't be disappointed if your first travel photos are not National Geographic material, because they will get better with time.
A. So this is the most important.
B. But that is only true in a way.
C. Its quality has increased a lot.
D. Don't forget that practice makes perfect.
E. Try street photography or take pictures at night.
F. You may have to take several shots until you discover the right one.
第三節(jié)(共3小題;每小題2分,共6分)
閱讀短文,根據(jù)短文回答問(wèn)題,并將答案寫(xiě)在答題紙相應(yīng)位置。每小題答案不多于15個(gè)單詞。
Would you ever hug a stranger? There's actually a social activity of offering hugs to strangers in public places. It's known as the Free Hugs Campaign. The hugs are meant to be random(隨機(jī)的) acts of kindness—selfless acts performed just to make others feel better. The person offering the hugs often makes a sign that reads "FREE HUGS", then holds it up in the street and waits for someone to ask for a hug.
The activity was started by Australian Juan Mann in 2004. Juan had been living in London for almost 10 years when he decided to return to Sydney after his girlfriend decided to leave him. On landing, he had nothing but his suitcase. After about three months, an old friend invited him to a party. In an interview with WHO magazine, Juan said that while he was at the party, "... a completely random person I didn't know came up to me and gave me a hug. I felt like a king! It was the greatest thing that ever happened. " Then, he had an idea.
On 30th June 2004, Juan made a sign with the words FREE HUGS and offered his first hugs in the center of the main shopping district in Sydney. "For the first 15 minutes, people just stared right through me. But then a woman tapped me on the shoulder and told me she needed a hug as one of her relatives had passed away," said Juan.
Things really took off after a FREE HUGS video was uploaded to YouTube. While in Sydney, Juan met an American musician, Shimon Moore, who filmed Juan giving away free hugs and later used what he had shot to make a music video for the song All the Same by his band The Sick Puppies. The video was later uploaded to YouTube, where it has been viewed over 70 million times.
As a result of the video, the Free Hugs activity became international and then developed to China, Italy, America, Switzerland, Norway, India, Portugal and the UK. An International Free Hugs Day was set on the first Saturday following 30th June as this was the date of the first time that Juan ever offered free hugs in Sydney.
52. What is the purpose of the Free Hugs Campaign?
53. What gave Juan Mann the idea of offering free hugs?
54. How did Shimon Moore help Juan's activity become well-known?

Dear Lucy,
I've learned about your recent learning task. Studying festival is interesting and meaningful. If you intend to study one of the Chinese festivals, I suggest that you consider the Chinese Spring Festival. I recommend it to you because it has a long history and is the most important festival to us Chinese. And you can not only learn Chinese culture, but also dip into Chinese history. As we know, it is celebrated on the first day of Chinese lunar month. People celebrate it for the coming of the spring. It is also a time for family reunion, which has a special meaning to everyone of us. Usually, family members will have a feast and set off fireworks together. Since China is large in area, the custom of the Spring Festival varies in different areas in China. I wandered into the small store where I usually buy milk, when the store owner received a call from a customer. The customer and his wife had shopped there several months earlier. He noticed that his wife really liked one thing in the store, so he wanted to buy it as a surprise.
But the customer was in Tennessee, far away from the store which was in Maine. What’s more, he had been to the store several months earlier, and it was difficult to believe that the store owner would remember him, or what he was looking for.
The store owner took a few close-up photos with her camera, and e-mailed them to the customer on the computer. The customer looked at the photos, decided which one he wanted. They talked and discussed a price over the phone. She took care of the credit card transaction(交易)online, and promised the gift would be shipped out that afternoon.
The store owner was really smart. She was willing to push herself to find new ways to make the transaction actually happen. And it did work. However, it was the first time she had ever done it.
I was amazed that the store owner discovered a creative solution that could lead to a new way of doing business. I was impressed by what she did---so easily, but how difficult it is for many of us to make that leap(飛躍,跳躍). I’m not just talking about technology, but about learning how to adapt to change. Most people hate or fear change unless they get to know exactly what change needs to be made. However, we should realize that challenge and opportunity go hand in hand.
21. According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE?
A. The owner often did business by using her camera.
B. The customer had ever been to the store before
C. The owner and the customer discussed the price on the computer
D. The gift was sent out by train that afternoon
22. The author was impressed by the store owner because _________.
A. she was always ready to help others
B. she told the writer how to run a store
C. she was a successful businesswoman
D. she managed to find a new way when facing change
23. What’s the correct order of the store owner’s solution?
a. e-mailing the photos to the customer on the computer
b. taking care of the credit card transaction online
c. taking a few close-up photos with her camera
d. talking about the price of the gift with the customer
A. bcda B. abcd C. cadb D. cabd
24. Which of the following words can best describe the store owner?
A. Creative B. Humorous C. Confident D. Honest

These days we are exposed to ads wherever we go. They try to sell us products by using beautiful art, videos, images or slogans that are catchy. Below, you can find some of the most famous logos that you can see everywhere in your life.
Audi
This business logo is very popular and the company is a competitor of BMW. The four rings can be interpreted as many things, like four elements, or four nations, but the truth lies elsewhere. In the 1930s, there were four different car manufacturers in Germany and they were called Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. They decided to get together and create one company: Audi. But they didn’t use the logo right away. It took 30 years to see the four rings for the first time.
BMW
BMW was founded in Germany in 1916. The business logo of the company is easily recognized by anyone. Nevertheless the true meaning is a bit controversial(有爭(zhēng)議的). According to one side of the story, it represents the propeller(螺旋槳)of an airplane, because BMW used to produce airplanes in Munich. The other story goes that the blue and white triangles(三角形)are taken from the Bavarian(巴伐利亞) flag, which is the place where they were made. It’s your choice — you can pick up your favorite story!
Ferrari
The story behind this logo is very interesting. During World War I, an excellent pilot, Count Francesco Barraca, painted a horse, the logo of his spuadron(空軍中隊(duì)), on his airplane to bring him luck. But he died in the war. In order to remember him, his mother then convinced Enzo Ferrairi to put the logo on his racing cars in the early 1930s to bring him good luck. The logo has stayed the same ever since. The yellow on the background represents the birthplace of Enzo Farrari, Modena, Italy.
25. When did people first see the Audi logo?
A. In the 1930s B. In the 1940s
C. In the 1950s D. In the 1960s
26. What can we learn about BMW from the third paragraph?
A. The logo of BMW represents an airplane.
B. It once produced airplanes in Bavaria.
C. The Bavarian flag includes blue and white triangles.
D. Most people prefer the second story.
27. Why did Ferrari use yellow as the logo’s background?
A. In memory of Count Francesco Barraca
B. To show respect for Enzo Ferrari
C. In order to bring good luck to drivers
D. To express his thanks to Count Francesco Barracca’s mother
C
Living in a foreign culture there are many times when I realize that my perspective(觀點(diǎn))on life is completely different from those Koreans I interact with on a daily basis. This past week I have been greatly challenged to change my perspective and here is why.
My dream in life is to become a doctor, one who changes the world. But last week I opened an email from UBC that contained the words “regrets”, no interview. I didn’t get an interview to medical school, thus will not be entering school for September 2009. My immediate reaction was one of extreme disappointment and anger—mostly directed at myself for not working hard enough, for not seeking out the opportunities necessary to have a good application, for simply not being good enough. My mind was full of hopelessness and despair that left me with no desire to further seek for the dream that I’ve held for quite a time now.
During the past week two things happened. At church our pastor(牧師) mentioned perspective in a section of his sermon (說(shuō)教). He stated that when we take our eyes off ourselves and realize God’s greatness, our circumstances will be seen through a new perspective.
The second thing that reminded me to look at perspective was reading a book. The Mitford Series is so good if you are looking for books to read. So last night I was reading and one of the main characters (who is a priest) is trying to figure out what to say at church. His sermon ended up saying “In everything we give thanks.” It is easy to give thanks when we feel successful in life. It is easy to give thanks when we receive a blessing. But seriously, who in their right mind says thanks for the financial problems I have?
28. Where does the author probably live now?
A. in the church B. In Britain C. In Korea D. In UBC
29. How did she feel when the author received the email from UBC?
A. Disappointed B. Regretful C. Excited D. Anxious
30. In the first priest’s view, when we face disappointment or despair, we should _______.
A. turn to God for help B. see it in another way
C. change the other’s perspective D. receive a blessing
31. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The author thanks God for not being admitted by the university
B. The author thinks the second sermon is wiser
C. The author still wants to be a doctor
D. The author can’t really free from the disappointment
D
If you think that running marathons will help you live a long and healthy life, new research may come as a shock. According to a recent scientific study, people who do a very strenuous workout are as likely to die as people who do no exercise at all.
Scientists in Denmark have been studying over 1,000 joggers (慢跑者)and non-joggers for 12 years. The death rates from the sample group indicate that people who jog at a moderate pace two or three times a week for less than two and a half hours in total are least likely to die. The best speed to jog at was found to be about 5 miles per hour. The research suggests that people who jog more than three times a week or at higher speeds of over 7 mph die at the same rate as non-joggers. The scientists think that this is because strenuous exercise causes structural changes to the heart and arteries(動(dòng)脈). Over time, this can cause serious injuries.
Peter Schnohr, a researcher in Copenhagen, said, “If your goal is to decrease risk of death and improve life expectancy(壽命), jogging a few times a week at a moderate (適度的)pace is a good strategy. Anything more is not just unnecessary, and it may be harmful.”
The implications (暗示)of this are that moderate forms of exercise such as tai chi, yoga and brisk (輕快的)walking may be better for us than “iron man” events, triathlons and long-distance running and cycling. According to Jacob Louis Marott, another researcher involved in the study, “You don’t actually have to do that much to have a good impact on your health. And perhaps you shouldn’t actually do too much”.
32. The underlined word “strenuous” in Paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to “_____________”.
A. hard B. regular C. practical D. flexible
33. The author presents some figures in Paragraph 2 to __________.
A. suggest giving up jogging B. show risks of doing sports
C. provide supportive evidence D. introduce the research process
34. According to the scientists, why is too much exercise harmful?
A. It may injure the heart and arteries B. It can make the body tired out
C. It will bring much pressure D. It consumes too much energy
35. What can be inferred from the next?
A. No exercise at all is the best choice
B. More exercise means a healthier life
C. Marathons runners are least likely to die
D. Proper exercise contributes to good health

Everyone can benefit from making an effort to practice gratitude(感激)every day. The following three steps can help you start feeling more grateful, and appreciative of the good things in your life:
Notice the Good Things in Your Life
36.________ Pay attention to the small everyday details of your life-nature, people, community, shelter, creature comforts like a warm bed or a good meal. And then start a gratitude journal(日記). Making a commitment (承諾,保證)to writing down good things each day makes it more likely that we will notice good things as they happen.
Enjoy the Feeling of Gratitude
There are moments when you naturally, right then and there, feel filled with gratitude. These are moments when you say to yourself, "Oh, wow, this is amazing! "or "How great is this!" Pause. 37.___________ Let it sink in. Enjoy your blessings in the moment they happen.
Express Gratitude
Expressing gratitude is more than being polite. 38_ ___Show your appreciation to someone who really did something nice. Say: "It was really kind of you to…,” "You did me a big favor when...," or "Thank you for being there when...". 39.________ Hold the door open for the person behind you, even if it means waiting a little longer than you normally would.
True gratitude doesn't leave you feeling like you owe other people something-after all, if you've done someone a favor, you probably don't want the person to feel like you expect something back in return. 40.__________
A. It's about showing your heartfelt appreciation.
B. Just notice and absorb(吸收,吸入) that feeling of true gratitude.
C. You can also express gratitude by doing a kindness.
D. It's all about feeling good and creating a cycle of good.
E. Start to notice and identify the things you are grateful for.
F. Help someone without letting the person find out it was you.
G. It's amazing what you notice when you focus on feeling grateful.
