貓咪釣魚(yú)
A cat goes to a river every day. He wants to go fishing. But he can’t catch any fish.
一只貓每天去河邊,他想去釣魚(yú),但是他去釣不到一條。
One day, he goes to the river as usual. Suddenly a fish comes out. He catches the fish. He is very happy. He forgets to put the fish in the basket. He dances and sings. He shouts, “I have a fish! I have a fish!” All his friends come to see him.
一天,他像往常一樣去了河邊。突然一條魚(yú)浮出了水面。他捉到了那條魚(yú)。他非常開(kāi)心。他忘記把魚(yú)放到籃子里去了。他又唱又跳,叫道:“我捉到一條魚(yú)!我捉到一條魚(yú)!”他所有的朋友都過(guò)來(lái)看。
“Where is your fish? Let us have a look at it. ” his friends say.
“你的魚(yú)在哪兒?讓我們看一看。”他的朋友們說(shuō)。
“It’s there, near the bank.” the cat answers. But he can’t find the fish. When he sings and dances, the fish jumps back into the river.
“在那兒,河岸附近。”貓回答道。但是他找不到那條魚(yú)。當(dāng)他又唱又跳的時(shí)候,魚(yú)跳回了河里。
口渴的烏鴉
The crow and the pitcher
A crow felt very thirsty. He looked for water everywhere. Finally, he found a pitcher.
But there was not a lot of water in the pitcher. His beak could not reach it. He tried again and again, but still could not touch the water.
When he was about to give up, an idea came to him. He took a pebble and dropped it into the pitcher. Then he took another and dropped it in.
Gradually, the water rose, and the crow was able to drink the water.
一只烏鴉口渴了,到處找水喝。終于,他找到了一個(gè)大水罐。
然而,水罐里面的水并不多,他的尖嘴夠不到水面,他試了一次又一次,都沒(méi)有成功。
就在他想放棄的時(shí)候,他突然想到一個(gè)主意。烏鴉叼來(lái)了一塊小石子投到水罐里,接著又叼了一塊又一塊石頭放進(jìn)去。
漸漸地,水面升高了。烏鴉高興地喝到了水。
寓意: 有些東西雖然看起來(lái)微不足道,但如果積少成多,便會(huì)帶來(lái)很大變化。
老鼠開(kāi)會(huì)
Belling the cat
Long ago, there was a big cat in the house. He caught many mice while they were stealing food.
One day the mice had a meeting to talk about the way to deal with their common enemy. Some said this, and some said that.
At last a young mouse got up, and said that he had a good idea.
"We could tie a bell around the neck of the cat. Then when he comes near, we can hear the sound of the bell, and run away."
Everyone approved of this proposal, but an old wise mouse got up and said, "That is all very well, but who will tie the bell to the cat?" The mice looked at each other, but nobody spoke.
從前,一所房子里面有一只大貓,他抓住了很多偷東西的老鼠。
一天,老鼠在一起開(kāi)會(huì)商量如何對(duì)付他們共同的敵人。會(huì)上大家各有各的主張,最后,一只小老鼠站出來(lái)說(shuō)他有一個(gè)好主意。
“我們可以在貓的脖子上綁一個(gè)鈴鐺,那么如果他來(lái)到附近,我們聽(tīng)到鈴聲就可以馬上逃跑。”
大家都贊同這個(gè)建議,這時(shí)一只聰明的老耗子站出來(lái)說(shuō):“這的確是個(gè)絕妙的主意,但是誰(shuí)來(lái)給貓的脖子上綁鈴鐺呢?”老鼠們面面相覷,誰(shuí)也沒(méi)有說(shuō)話(huà)。
寓意: 有些事情說(shuō)起來(lái)容易,做起來(lái)卻很難。
