Some teachers think that students should be organized into groups to study. Other teachers argue that students should study alone. What is your opinion?

I do agree with the method that students are organized into groups to study, because group studies enable to offer a variety of advantages relatively.

Studying alone may be the most efficient way for students who are not good at Interpersonal skills. Undoubtedly, studying alone can reduce distractions so that students pay more attention to studies rather than dealing with interpersonal relationships. In addition, it is widely accepted that studying alone can prove one’s ability, this is beneficial to outstanding students.

Nevertheless, there is little possibility that people keep unconnected to external environment. In most situations, students need establish common goals and coordinate their efforts since an individual’s ability is limited. For example, a group of students may be allocated an assignment, they need divide the work, communicate each other and combine each work after reaching the consensus. Meanwhile, people are living in a fully integrated and supportive society, group study can let each member make good use of strengthen, in order to gain optimal effects.

Additionally, group study is an opportunity to train emotion controls.Empirically, the definition of ‘a rational person’ should consist of anger management skills, conflict resolution skills and acceptance of different viewpoints. Assuming everyone’s academic ability being equal in a workplace, the ability of emotion controls automatically becomes the measurement to evaluate a person. Thus, teaching students the importance of respect for others and tolerance of differences is also needed.

In conclusion, although studying alone is an appropriate way for outstanding students to improve efficiency, group study makes students more adaptive.
