College students, curious and energetic, love traveling; summer and winter vacations provide them with golden opportunities to travel. There are two major modes of travelling—traveling by oneself or traveling in a group organized by travel agencies.
Those two patterns offer different travel experiences, with respective advantages and disadvantages. For the solitary traveler, the greatest advantage is freedom. He is perfectly free to choose his itinerary and plan his schedules, thus he can visit whatever his curiosity leads him to and contemplate over a historical site or a cultural relic for as long as he desires. The trouble is he cannot share his perceptions and excitement with any partners. Moreover, it is time-consuming and difficult to buy train tickets and look for accommodations and in emergency situations an individual traveler is largely helpless. Those problems are non-existent for group travelers because travel agencies take care of everything. Within a group, people who used to be strangers soon become friends. However, the fixed itineraries and tight schedule prevent travelers from satiating their individual curiosities. In addition, tourists are often subjected to forced shopping by tour guides who are more concerned with securing commissions than providing services.
My solution to these two imperfect modes of traveling is to travel with friends or classmates. This pattern incorporates most of their advantages while avoiding all their disadvantages. I am convinced this is the best and most sensible form of traveling which everybody should adopt.

此兩種模式會帶來不盡相同的旅行體驗，不乏各自的優(yōu)缺點。對于孤身一人的旅行者來說，最大的優(yōu)點是自由。他完全可以隨心所欲地選擇旅行線路，規(guī)劃行程安排;這樣，其興致所至，必心滿意足;面對一處處歷史古跡或文物，盡可發(fā)思古之幽， 而全無時間之羈絆。問題在于，其感受與興奮之情，無可與人分享。此外，購買火車票和夜間投宿，既耗時亦費神。一旦突發(fā)意外，單槍匹馬的旅行者很大程度上孤立無助。所有這些問題對于隨團出游者來說均不存在，因為旅行社會安排好一切。在旅行團內(nèi)部，原來的陌生人旋即就可成為朋友。然則，固定的旅游線路以及倉促的行程，往往會使旅行者無法滿足每個人獨特的好奇心。此外，旅客也常常被導游逼迫著去作強制性購物，這些導游花在賺取傭金上的心思，遠超過如何來為游客提供服務。
對于這兩種不甚完美的旅行模式，我的解決之道是與朋友或同學結(jié)伴而游。此類模式可兼具上述兩類模式的大多數(shù)優(yōu)點，而避免它們的全部的缺點。我深信，這是最佳、最明智的旅行方式，所有人都應采用。

the main reason why people travel is, perhaps, for pleasure. for eample, having worked hard throughout the weekdays, people will find a widened trip to the nearby mountains or beaches a real relaation. for another eample, spending an annual holiday travelling abroad is an especially satisfying eperience for those who do not have much of an opportunity to be away from their homelands. when people return from their travel, they will generally feel fresh and energetic, ready to work harder.
travelling is also one of the best means for learning. you may have read or heard about something but you can never get an accurate picture of it until you see it for yourself. seeing is believing. furthermore, if you area careful observer, you can learn much during your travel about the geography, biology, and history of the places you visit. no matter how well educated you are, there is always a lot for you to learn through travelling. the knowledge acquired from travel, as you will have found in your life, is no less valuable than that from any influential reference book.

Although the atmosphere of civilized tourism in China is much better than that of the past two years, there is still much room for improvement. The government should step up publicity so as to make people behave more civilized and more competent. I sincerely hope that I will never see littering again, which is contrary to civilization!

My suggestion is landscape plus Chinese calligraphy. I think it's quite potential for two reasons. The first is that Chinese calligraphy is an art which is so naturally and nicely incorporated with China's abundant resources of landscape.
